Craps Terms and Reminders to Keep in Mind

Some of the things that you should remember about craps are 1st, the craps personnel at the gaming table. Observe who are the employees that are involved at the craps table. You have an employee seated in the chair in the middle of the table who is the boxman of the game. The boxman's job is to manage the entire game and make sure that everything runs smoothly. The employee to the boxman's right or left side is the craps dealer. Across from the boxman is the stickperson. The stickperson is easily recognizable because that person is holding a long stick to move the dice around in the game because the dice cannot be personally touched while the game is still in progress to avoid any form of suspicion or cheating.

2nd, the basic rules in the game of craps. You can immediately see the ring on the table layout with the sign Pass Line on it? Just above the pass line is another ring called Do Not Pass Line. These are the two basic wagers in the game. Since about 95% of players wager on the pass line, let us examine this part of the game first. The crapshooter puts down a pass line wager. The stickperson now brings out a bowl containing 5 to six dice on the craps table and pushes them with the stick to the crapshooter. The crapshooter will pick a pair of dice and the remaining dice will be taken back by the stickperson.

The crapshooter then throws the dice to the opposite side of the table for their initial roll. If the crapshooter gets a seven or eleven, they will win even cash ($20 dollars bet, $20 dollars won). If the crapshooter gets a seven or eleven, they will win even cash. If the shooter gets a two, three or twelve, they will lose their wager. There are exactly thirty six ways to get that combination and there are eight possible ways to get the number seven and eleven compared with getting the numbers two, three and twelve. But there are twenty four combinations on how to get the numbers four, five, six, eight, nine and ten. These are the point digits.

During the initial roll, should the crapshooter get one of these digits, then it will be their point number. It means that the crapshooter must get their point number before getting the number seven so that the shooter will win even wager on their pass line. If the crapshooter gets the number seven before their point number, they will lose in the game. It is classified a sevening out and it is very disadvantageous for right players who have wagered on the point number and not on the number seven.

The other wager that can be made during the initial roll is the Do Not Pass Wager. It is also almost the same as the Pass Line wager. On the crapshooter's initial roll, if the numbers seven and eleven come out, the player that wagered on the Do Not Pass will lose, if the number two and three comes out of the roll, the player that wagered on the Do Not Pass Line will win and if the number twelve comes out on the initial roll, it will be considered as a push.
